Bienvenido applauds the Supreme Court's decision to end affirmative action. This program may have been appropriate as a temporary measure to address historical discrimination, but it far outlived its original purpose. Our nation should prioritize merit while ensuring no one is held back because of their skin color. Students should be evaluated based on their skills, work ethic, and abilities, not on their race. This ruling will strengthen the American spirit of hard work, entrepreneurship, and opportunity that characterizes this country’s 60 million Latinos while creating communities that reward achievements, fostering true equality, and opportunity for all Americans.
